This manual is intended as a study guide for preparing ro rake the Wyoming Pesticide Applicator Core/ General Standards Certification Exam. This manual satisfies the basic applicator training requirements of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Wyoming Environmental Pesticide Control Act of 1973 and Wyoming Applicator Certification Rules and Regulations.
This manual and the initial applicator training course are not designed to teach you how to apply products; they arc designed to educate you in the principles of pesticide application and to determine if you arc competent to do so. More specific pest management information and pesticide terminology are covered in category-specific manuals.
The table of contents helps you identify important topics and understand now they relate to one another through the organization of headings and subheadings. You may also check the index for key words and concepts. Each chapter begins with a set of learning objectives' that help you locus on what you should learn from the chapter.
Appendices, including a glossary, rovide supplemental infor-inalion that elp you understand the topics covered in the chapters. Terms in bold type throughout the manual are defined either within the text or in the glossary.
Information covered in rhe Core/ General standards examination is contained in this manual and uw Publication MP-124.
To become a certified applicator in Wyoming a candidate must pass both the Corc/Gcncral Standards Examination AND one or more Category Examinations(s).
These tests are available electronically and proctored at the University of Wyoming Extension offices in each County. You must call your local Extension office and make an appointment to take the examination. uw Extension office contact information can he found in Appendix F oi this study guide.
